For members of society that are not choosing to be vegetarians there are a few issues to look at. If selecting a diet and you want to not cut out pork you can look at pork as a possibility in a rounded diet since it has a lower level of myoglobin than its beef counterpart, however it should be noted that chicken is still better in this case. Pork with the fat trimmed off is actually leaner than the meat you can get from most domesticated animals however, it is still high in cholesterol and saturated fat which can have long term health consequences if not eaten in a balanced way, since any balanced diet will require you not to over indulge in anything that might have poor results. You must be careful to not undercook pork as it does still have some potential for the infection of micro-organisms such as worms, as pigs are carriers of such parasites, however these days the kind of meat you buy in the shops are treated. Your diet should include the right way to make your food in order to avoid any troubling results.
Bacon is a type of meat that has been in homes and enjoyed around the world, except in certain cultures such as the Jewish culture which bans it as part of their faith. It is a treated item that has to have sodium added to it in order to produce the final product. If you are going ahead and eating some bacon instead of the healthier option of pork, be sure to remove the fatty parts in order to reduce the health consequences. Scientists have conducted some research that can show links between cured meat and chronic heart disease, which looks like it is caused by the procedure where sodium nitrate is added. Bacon can be found which does not have nitrate in it. In an attempt to maintain a well rounded diet a person can eat meat, however he or she would be advised to not eat cured meats or any that have been treated with chemical additives since this is a long term health risk.
